They had just finished lunch and were headed back up the slopes for another run on the mountain. They were coming back down on a gentle course doing very slow S curves. Marc said that he was a few yards in front of Madison when he heard a blood curling scream from her. He quickly stopped, turned back around and ran/skied back up to her. Sure enough from just looking at the angle of her foot he knew she broke her leg. They called for help to another skier going down and were able to have someone from the lodge there within about 3 minutes. They hooked Madison up on a sled and had one of the medics ski her back down to the emergency clinic they have on sight. After 3 x-rays, some much needed pain medication and a consultation with the on call doctor it was determined that she had a break through the tibia bone. Marc was able to get her home safely around 6:00 last night.
She has been laying on the couch and in her bed and is still having quite a bit of pain. She has been a real trooper though. We will visit with our regular doctor tomorrow and get a referral to see an orthopedic doctor hopefully tomorrow as well to see where we go from there. We will post more in the next few days when we have more information!
